If you have been on my Instagram (@vervefaithandfitness) or my Facebook page, then you already know that I have had either a ridiculous cold or the flu for the past 5-6 days. It was a monster! The supercell of colds! I had insane sinus pressure in my head. I would wake up with my eyes caked closed, my vision would get blurry, on the right side of my face there was a sharp throbbing pain, my back teeth on the right side was aching, I blew my nose so much that it started turning pink tinged blood, and my right ear was killing me. I was achy and tired. To make things worse, I couldn’t sleep at all! So needless to say, this was not a good week for me to exercise.

But I am going to post my weekly review because I was able to do the first half of 22 Minute Hard Corps and I did a trial run on the first week prior to this past week.

I hadn’t done a fitness program for months! And I wasn’t exercising regularly during this time. So let’s just say the first day of doing “Resistance,” I woke up incredibly sore. It was awesome! It hurt so good! What I like about doing it so far is the efficiency, the simplicity, and the duration.

  • Basic exercises close to Shaun T’s types of exercises (i.e. pushups, lunges, squats)

  • No combinations or choreography like Turbofire (unless you count sit ups with two punches at the end)

  • Only 22 minutes which is the selling point for me (like Shaun T’s T25)

There were four videos: Cardio 1 & 2, Core 1, and Resistance 1. Cardio 1 & 2 and Resistance 1 are both 22 minutes long. Core 1 is only 11 minutes. My favorite two are Core 1 and Resistance 1.

  • Core 1 was the least simplistic, but I enjoyed the challenge. I actually felt work being done on my core while doing these exercises. The exercises weren’t complex (v-ups, planks, etc.), but by the time you finish Cardio 1 you may realize that you have a bit more energy left over to give, and after Core 1 you’ll be satisfied with your entire work out.

  • Resistance 1 had the most entertaining exercises and I like the way they set it up. Bear crawls, burpees, and run lunge squats give you full body workouts. The 22 minutes is broken down into 3 cycles. So you go through about 10 exercises and that is one cycle. Then you’ll go through those same exercises again but with a different number of reps. Instead of doing say 20 pushups you’ll only do 10 in the second cycle and 15 in the third cycle. So the reps in each exercise vary in all 3 cycles. I liked this because generally when I didn’t like a certain exercise, in the second and third cycles the repetitions would be shorter.

Overall, I liked the first week of Hard Corps. It got me back into the habit of exercising and I enjoyed the process. With the basic exercises, varying reps, and 22 minutes of exercise, there are no excuses to getting it done! Unless you had the supercell of colds like I did!
