This Time You Will Not Quit!

This time you will not just dream or talk about losing weight, eating healthier, or being more active. This time you are going to follow through with action. Do you know why? Because you can’t fail! Eating healthier and exercising are probably the only things in this world where you have control and can receive immediate gratification and results. Others will go to the gym or eat like a bird for a month and give up. But not you! You will keep pushing forward because you know that if you keep going then there will be great changes!
Life is about sowing and reaping. When you sow consistently you will reap consistently. When you sow sparingly you will reap sparingly.
When I first began my weight loss journey I lived by this principle; it kept me going when I wasn’t seeing any results in the beginning. For one month I saw no change. I was disappointed, frustrated, and deprived. I went on this green smoothie cleanse for 14 days and I started a well-known fitness program. After the cleanse I only lost 2 pounds, which I gained back after eating solid food again. In the first month of the fitness program, I lost no weight and didn’t look any different. But I wholeheartedly believed in the sowing and reaping principle. If I continued improving my eating habits and keep to a fitness program, then I would begin to see changes. Although I didn’t get the results I expected while doing the cleanse, there were changes in my mindset. For first time in a long time, I was in a better mood most of the time, I had way more energy throughout the day, and most importantly I realized that I did have control over my eating habits. So instead of getting down on myself and going on a binge, I took the momentum I had gained and decided to set achievable goals to change small habits. By the end of the second month, there was a dramatic change in my body.
This time you will succeed! This time you will achieve the goals you have set! This time you will not quit!
There have been many times in this journey where I stopped to take a rest. There were times I exercised but ate too much. There were times I ate healthy but didn’t move a muscle. Sometimes I didn’t exercise for a week, sometimes for a month, sometimes for several months, but I didn’t quit. I was consistently persistent. Every time I stopped, I picked it right back up and resumed again. But life happens! I had a growing child, my job was stressful, my body was tired, I wasn’t motivated, whatever the reason, I pressed pause on exercising whether intentionally or not. But I made a decision that my life would be different. I would live an active lifestyle, so I didn’t quit. I didn’t give up on exercising and eating healthier altogether and neither will you. This time you’re not going to give up, you’re going to make a decision that your lifestyle needs to change for good.
You already know that there is no quick fix! Get it out of your head! This time, you don’t want to gain back every pound that you lose. You want a lifestyle that will help you lose weight and then maintain what you’ve lost. You will not work out for a week, see no results and quit. No! You will work out and adjust your diet until you see a difference on that scale. Will there be days you binge eat? Yes! Will there be days you sleep longer in bed instead of turning on that fitness dvd in the morning? Yes! Will there be days you come home from work and sit on the couch and watch tv instead of going to the gym? Yes! But there will also be days you eat the right portions, wake up and exercise, or go to the gym after work. And the more you keep trying, the less days you’ll have binging, sleeping in, or lounging about. I believe that you can do this. Do you know why? Because I did it! But me believing in you is not enough to sustain you.
This time you will believe in yourself. Because you are worth believing in! God has equipped you with absolutely everything you need.
If you have a vision and can walk, then you are ready to begin. No, you don’t need money. No, you don’t need to be an athlete. No, you don’t need as this fancy equipment. No, you don’t need support from every person in your life. As long as you are alive, able, and willing, you can’t fail! The progress may be slow, but you have the rest of your life to get it together. Make the decision today to change your life. Put on your big girl or boy undies, and let’s get moving towards your vision!
